NOITE EUROPEIA DOS INVESTIGADORES

28 of September
The European Researchers’ Night is celebrated on the 28th September. UNIDCOM and IADE will mark the occasion with a series of workshops. The program prepared by UNIDCOM/IADE aims to provide a meeting with research and researchers, professors and students, in the areas of Design and Visual Culture.
Night Photography Workshop
Promoters: Paulo Andrade, IADE – Media Lab
Duration: 3 hours (19h00-22h00)
Maximum number of participants: 10
Requirements for participation: Digital camera with manual settings and, if possible, tripod.
Objectives: To know and understand the digital camera mechanism, the operation of the photometer, the choice of white balance and the influence of ISO. Understand the basics of editing, namely, how to “reveal” the digital file (Raw) with Photoshop.
Photography Workshop: Light and Chemistry
Promoter: Octávio Alcântara, IADE – Media Lab
Duration: 2 hours (18h30-20h30)
Maximum number of participants: 10
The investigation of the action of luminous radiant energy on photosensitive photographic materials, where the interposition of chemical processes determines and constructs the singular image. The search for the experience of characterization and determination in the execution of chemigrams. The photograph without camera.
Design Thinking Workshop
Promoter: Sara Gancho, UNIDCOM/IADE
Duration: 2 hours (18h00-20h00)
Maximum number of participants: 10
This workshop aims to apply Design Thinking methodologies into solving all sorts of professional challenges and problems.
Design thinking is a human-centered approach to solving problems using the tools of design to gather inspiration, build empathy, and create solutions. It had its origins in the design of products, but its application grew to include nearly all business or organizational issues, including services, spaces, and experiences of all kinds: new business platforms, improved hospital processes, retail supply-chain improvements, city district redevelopment, aid for the developing world, and strategies for government, academic, and nonprofit institutions. Design thinking is a process that many professionals have discovered and adopted in the last few years to create products focused on users.
Workshop of emerging material modelling in the development and testing of design solutions
Promoters: Diamantino Abreu, Vasco Milne, Carlos Neves, IADE – 3D Lab
Duration: 3 hours (19h00-22h00)
Maximum number of participants: 10
Description: By applying experimental processes of modelling and active negotiation with materials and extrapolating the solutions developed in similarity production to existing and tested production systems, we will develop design solutions adapted to the installed industrial capacity.
Using machines such as the FDM and 5-axis Milling Machine, the participants will be able to model with foam in productive similarity with systems of transformation of natural or transformed wood.
