The researcher is an architect (1996, Faculdade de Arquitectura, UTL, Lisbon, Portugal), who holds a MSc in Interior Design (2000, Pratt Institute, New York, EUA) and a PhD Lighting Design in Architecture (2012, University College London, London, UK). She was the recipient of two full scholarship awards, one from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento (MSc) and one from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (PhD).
Currently she works as an Assistant Professor at IADE, Universidade Europeia (Lisbon) where she is lecturing the modules of Desenho Técnico e Geometria and Laboratório de Design 3D (1st year). Prior she worked as an Assistant Professor at Universidade Europeia (Lisbon) from September 2012 to July 2017, where she was responsible for several modules, including in the last 4 years, the modules of Geometria Descritiva (1st year), Tecnologia 3D (2nd year) and Simulação Foto-Realista (3rd year) of the undergraduate Design Course, where she prepared the syllabus, designed and developed learning and teaching material, delivered lectures, tutored the work of students and assessed that work and the students' progress in each of the modules mentioned. From 2012 to 2014 she has also worked at Escola Superior de Artes Decorativas, FRESS where she was the Supervisor of five dissertation/ projects of Interior Design Master students (2nd year). From 2012 to 2015 she has participated, at ESAD, FRESS, as an Examiner in different capacities (Presidente, Arguente e Vogal) in six examinations towards the Degree of Master in Interior Design.
Her research interests are related with lighting in architecture, particularly concerning the observer's appraisals of the lighting. She currently is preparing a paper based on the analysis of natural lighting in architecture. She also is starting to develop a research project which aims to contribute with knowledge towards the subject of natural lighting design.
She is an active member of LLD-APDII Associação Portuguesa de Designers de Iluminação Independentes. She was responsible (along with Paula Pinote) for organizing and coordinating the international event ""Ó Mouraria, ilumina a montra!"", which lasted three days (13-15 September 2017) and included lighting design work developed in a workshop environment with teams of students, three conferences and a contest. In this event she was also responsible for the designs of two of the shop windows, as the tutor of two student teams. One of her designs was considered by the independent jury of the contest, the winner of the lighting design contest. She also wrote articles related to the subject of lighting, on the LLD-APDII newsletter and PRISMIAI magazine.
In addition to her academic experience, she has worked as an architect and interior designer for more than fifteen years, developing work mainly as author and project coordinator of different design projects, mostly in the areas of housing and hospitality.
